What the deck does in a PROPER assessment
PROPER is the Indonesian Ministry of Environment’s rating of corporate performance in environmental management. For a company that is a candidate for a high rating, the presentation to the assessment team is the chance to explain what has been done and why the results matter.
The content follows the current assessment rules and the guidance of your company’s environment team. Our part, as the design team, is the presentation: the order, the clarity of the data, and a theme that makes the company’s programmes memorable.
Go from the big picture to the detail
The Prabu Kresna deck we designed for Pertamina EP Sukowati Field opens with the big picture, then moves into detail:
- Management commitment to the environment and the community.
- Awards already received.
- The spread of the community empowerment programmes.
- The social return on investment (SROI) of those programmes.
This order gives the assessors the context before the numbers. By the time they reach the SROI slides, they already know which programmes are being measured.
Make the data easy to read
PROPER decks tend to be dense: achievements, programmes, locations, beneficiaries and calculations. What we use:
- A map for the spread of programmes. Programmes across several villages are easier to grasp on one map than in a list.
- One key number per slide. Supporting figures stay, smaller or in the appendix.
- Titles that state the conclusion. The assessor knows at once what to take from the slide.
- Consistent terms. Programme names, units and abbreviations are written the same way across the deck, appendix included.
We do not change your team’s data. What we help with is the order and the emphasis, so the data reads quickly.
A theme rooted in the programme
Community programmes usually carry a strong local story. For Sukowati Field, we placed the wayang figure Prabu Kresna in the rice fields with villagers and the field team, standing for a programme rooted in the village. Its spirit comes from the programme’s motto, “memayu hayuning bawana”.
A theme like this makes the deck memorable and keeps it relevant, because it comes from the programme itself. See the slides in the Prabu Kresna case study.
Candidate profile videos
Alongside decks, we also produce profile videos for PROPER Gold candidates. The video for Pertamina EP Asset 4 Sukowati Field was published on the official KLH-BPLH YouTube channel and won a Gold Award at ISRA 2025 in the CSR Video Documentation category. You can watch it, and three other Gold candidate videos, on our services section.
When the deck and the video are made together, both can share one theme so the company’s material reads as one piece.
Timing and confidentiality
A deck needs time for discussion, storyline, design and revision. In our team it takes about four weeks from the initial discussion to the final file. If some data is only final close to the assessment date, we can agree the structure and theme first and add the final figures when they are ready.
Environmental and social data is often internal. We are happy to sign your company’s NDA before the project starts, and we do not publish any material without your permission.
Summary
- Start with commitment and the big picture, then move to programmes and numbers.
- Use a map for the spread of programmes and one key number per slide.
- Write slide titles as conclusions.
- Take the theme from the programme’s own story.
- Agree the structure early if the final data arrives late.
If your company is preparing for a PROPER assessment, tell us your schedule and what material you have. We will work out the presentation together. The decks and videos we have made are on our PROPER presentation and video page.
